Interventional radiology (IR) is in the spotlight this week, with Doximity’s annual Physician Compensation Report showing that the specialty topped all others with 10.8% compensation growth in 2025. The report also highlights radiology’s high demand, ranking in the top 10 for most recruited specialties and most in-demand locum tenens specialties.

Next up, survey results out of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital indicate that clinical faculty experienced the highest rates of work-related stress and the lowest job satisfaction at 41%. The study, which included 290 radiology department employees, noted that system-level issues like excessive workload and inappropriate order prioritization cause the most stress.
We’ve also released a new episode of the Women’s Imaging MinnieCast. In episode 16, Associate Editor Amerigo Allegretto spoke with Azadeh Elmi from the University of California, San Diego Health about research she and colleagues led on breast imaging AI. They found that radiologists’ expectations of AI’s downstream impact on breast cancer detection may outweigh actual performance. Among other news out of the week, a former Philips Medical Systems engineer was found guilty of conspiring to steal the company’s x-ray technology trade secrets for a Chinese competitor. And a University of Chicago team in its study of 400,000 malpractice cases found that radiology claims are more likely to involve diagnostic errors, result in severe patient outcomes, and generate higher indemnity payments.
